King's Hedges Educational Federation expect attendance at school to be 100%, unless there are exceptional or unavoidable reasons for absence.
It is right for parents to keep children away from school when they are not well enough to attend lessons. But it is equally wrong for parents to keep children away for trivial ailments, particularly illnesses which would not keep parents away from work, for example, a light head cold, headache, sore finger, cold sore etc.
In some cases, pupils can return to school once they are receiving treatment for example, impetigo, conjunctivitis and nits.
It is important that families avoid putting undue pressure on doctor’s appointment systems.
If you are in doubt, you can send the child to school and we will always contact you if we think that they are too poorly to be here. There are children that say they are poorly because they are unhappy at school, we are more than happy to help you sort out this problem.
You can read the attendance policy here.
