Staying Safe

I know I am safe in school.

I know how school keeps me safe.

We asked questions, designed a survey and found out lots!

Project 4

Healthy relationships

Do we all know what ‘healthy relationships’ means?

What words could you use to describe one?

What work have you done to help you understand this?

Project 5

Recycling

Following interest in reducing our waste the School Council, through a series of e-mails, managed to trial some refilling of board pens.

After successfully using in Year 2, Jack and Damola did the maths and explained to Mr Brown that we could invest in refill ink and save each year group the cost of about 25-30 pens per pot of ink. Good job!

Project 6

Wow! What a day! Today, Me2Club, SoToSpeak, Nursery, Reception, KS1 and KS2 all did laps of the playground and field to raise money for charity in our favourite sports gear. We saw karate suits, horse riding uniforms and even our parents’ football kits!

Building on from assemblies led by Miss Sapsford, we were able to apply what we knew about stamina and paced ourselves to not tire out too quickly. Clearly, the Daily Mile is having a great impact on KS2 children.

Our goal was to collectively run the distance to Dublin (250 miles in a straight line). We’re proud to say that we achieved that with flying colours. Every child aged 2 to 11 played their part in a really successful day!

We mustn’t forget what all this running is for: Sports Relief. Thanks to our generous donations, King’s Hedges was able to raise a whopping £271.42. This money will go towards people who need it the most across the globe and in our country, so we should give ourselves a big pat on the back. Well done everybody!

Project 1

Wow!

We had a great day. The School Council reps helped individual classes to organise their own games to raise funds alongside our ‘spotty’ dress up theme. Guessing the number of marbles in a jar, treasure hunts, baking, bear sketching competition and more helped us to raise a grand total of £537.69.

Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Me2Club: you baked the most amazing biscuits!

Project 2

Gathering pupil ideas about resilience.

Here are some of our ideas collected from around the school:

‘Persevering.’

‘Try, try and try again.’

‘Try your best.’

‘Be strong.’

Always stand up for yourself.’

‘Be brave.’

‘When you get something wrong have another go.’

‘Work as a team.’

‘Do not get distracted.’

(Year 1 were unsure what it meant.)

Project 3

Staying Safe

I know I am safe in school.

I know how school keeps me safe.

This project was useful to find out how pupils really felt. It took us a while to write the questions that we thought were the best to ask.

We were able to send our results in to SMT and let the pupils in the school see what we found out too.

We also checked out the new security doors in the old building. They are great! They shut after leaving and cannot be opened from the outside.

Project 4

Healthy relationships

Do we all know what ‘healthy relationships’ means?

Our pupils gave us plenty of ideas. Many of them are excellent and showed good understanding of this important area of life.

Project 5

Recycling

Thank you to Jack and Damola for emailing Edding pens and having a conversation with them about recyeling. Edding sent us some refill ink to trial.

After successfully using the refill pots in Year 2, Jack and Damola did the maths and explained to Mr Brown that we could invest in refill ink and save each year group the cost of about 25-30 pens per pot of ink. Good job!

Update: Autumn 2020

Each class is now using refill ink pots to extend the lives of our pens.

Project 6

Sport Relief.

Let’s all run for fun!

Thank you Mr. Lander for helping us have such a fun morning, running in total many miles and raising lots of money for Sports Relief.
