Fluency in Maths
Fluency means the rapid and accurate recall of mathematical facts, information and concepts and the application of these to set tasks. Children learn both written methods (see calculation policies) and mental strategies to support their fluency in mathematics. Fluency is the foundation of becoming a successful mathematician and being able to reason and problem solve and is therefore fundamental to the curriculum.
