Year 5 music
Y5 Ukulele Playing
This term, both Y5 classes have started to learn the ukulele. So far we have mastered the following chords: C major, F major and A minor. We have been experimenting with our ukulele hold and hand positions and have learnt a few different strumming patterns.
We have recorded a couple of our favourite pieces with each class.
First class in the afternoon:
- Ukulele Four String Fun – sang in unison and then in a four-part round. (We have been learning about musical texture and this is a great example of polyphonic singing.)
- Jamming Track 8 – we’ve been learning how to change chord seamlessly using these jamming tracks using chords C and F.

Second class in the afternoon:
- Super Sonic Sausage Dog – we all enjoy this cumulative song, using chords C and F. We need to change chords pretty quickly in this piece.
- Jamming Track 8 – this time with the faster backing track!
